Xociety, a shooter-style Web3 game developed on the SuiNetwork, has made waves recently with an announcement of their partnership with Adidas. The collaboration will bring branded virtual fashion to Xociety gamers via a special limited edition of mystery boxes. With this move, Adidas is making a huge play into the Web3 gaming sphere. That also leads to player retention issues and questions about how good the unreleased game will actually be.
Through the Adidas collaboration, 2,600 of the U.S. opens’ branded, virtual apparel will be distributed in mystery boxes. Each box will retail for $129 and be sold on Tradeport, Sui’s NFT marketplace. The sale is currently planned to last through May 23. All earned wearables can be exchanged on interoperable secondary markets, giving players both true ownership of their assets and real-world value. The Adidas-branded virtual apparel starts rolling out on May 16.
Now, aside from a select few of our in-house play testers, Xociety’s gameplay has never been truly accessible to the public. Prepare yourself for the game’s largest playtest to date! Tentatively planned for May 15-23, this event promises a thrilling $100,000 prize pool and unprecedented integration with Epic Games. The Xociety team is incredibly confident in what they’re offering. From there, they recommend that users sign up for the upcoming playtest to see the quality of the game for themselves. Xociety’s collaboration with Epic Games emphasizes the increasing curiosity and potential of Web3 gaming among more established industry figures.
Due to the lack of access to Xociety’s unique gameplay, many have been understandably skeptical. Web3Weasly noted:
"So, how is the actual game? It’s not launched and is only available via limited playtests, so it’s very hard to tell at this point."
Despite all this hubbub, only 2,600 digital collectibles will grant access to premium Certificates. These unique advantages would dramatically increase demand and user activity in the Xociety economy.
