Donald Trump’s crypto adventures started back in December 2022, with the launch of Trump Digital Trading Cards. His limited first drop of 45,000 NFTs instantly struck gold, riding the wave of Trump’s built-in brand awareness. In January 2025, Trump released “Trump Bitcoin Digital Trading Cards,” with an initial set of 160 unique pieces on the still booming Bitcoin network. In other news, he launched Series 2 of the Trump Digital Trading Cards along the same lines.
That inaugural drop cleared an astounding 648 ETH. At the time of the sale, that was worth approximately $785,000 based on the ETH price. However, by April 2025, data from CryptoSlam indicated a significant drop in trading volume for Trump Digital Trading Cards, plummeting to just $2,000, which impacted the value of the original Series 1 collection.
A recent announcement concerning the Private Dinner event for the top 220 holders of the TRUMP meme coin has introduced uncertainty regarding Trump's attendance. The fine print terms and conditions of the TRUMP Gala Dinner make it very clear that Donald Trump may not show up.
President Trump may not be able to attend the TRUMP Gala Dinner. In the event President Trump is unable to attend the TRUMP Gala Dinner, or if the Gala Dinner does take place, then in our sole discretion, it may be rescheduled to another date, or TRUMP Meme holders who are qualified for the Gala Dinner and/or reception will receive a limited edition TRUMP NFT in lieu thereof. - BeInCrypto
If, for any reason, Trump is unable to make it, eligible TRUMP holders will win a limited-edition NFT. The same goes if we are forced to cancel the Gala Dinner. From an SEC scrutiny standpoint, it creates uncertainty about whether such NFT programs are indeed promotional instruments.
As with any other NFT projects, Trump’s NFT ventures will gain a strong second wind if he releases a new NFT collection and it does well. If Donald Trump is unable to join us for the TRUMP Gala Dinner, we’ll probably have to move the event to some later date. This possible reform makes the investment landscape even more confusing.
