I saw Maya just yesterday. At just 24, she’s drowning in student loan debt for a degree she almost never uses. To keep her family’s head above water, she bounces between two low-wage, dead-end jobs. You could see in her eyes, though, when she found her groove and began discussing Bitcoin. "$100K, Carlos! Imagine getting in on that. It could change everything." That's the hook, isn't it? The promise. But that promise, particularly for Gen Z, is a lie.

Crypto Dreams, Empty Pockets?

We’re led to believe that when Bitcoin reaches $103,900 (as Pintu News was claiming on May 11, 2025) that’s a sign our economy is flourishing. Bullish sentiment, “positive ripple effect” – it all sounds wonderful in theory. For whom? For the newly poor who have no other option but to play? For the “crypto bros” tweeting about their Lambo dreams? It sure as hell isn't for Maya.

Instead, Gen Z is facing down the barrel of an economic shotgun with respect to their futures. We're saddled with debt, facing a housing market that's a joke, and competing for jobs that barely pay a living wage. We can’t blame the crypto-mania on the temptation of sudden wealth. Desperation makes you vulnerable. It makes you believe in the impossible.

The volatility is insane. Join Ether.fi (ETHFI), Maple Finance (SYRUP) and Hivemapper (HONEY). Right now they’re enjoying the ride of that Bitcoin tide, but the question is – when the tide goes out, what happens? For one thing, Maya simply can’t afford to lose the little that she has. She's not playing with house money. She's playing with rent money.

The Real Crisis Isn't Volatility. It's Inequality.

Let's be brutally honest. The Bitcoin boom is not addressing any underlying issues. It's masking them. The shiny shiny distraction glosses over the ugly ugly truth. Wages aren’t rising, affordable housing doesn’t exist, and the entire system is rigged against young people.

I'm not saying crypto is inherently evil. Maybe there's something to it, maybe not. Pintu Academy encourages you to learn before you earn, and Pintu Pro features professional-grade trading tools, but I’m suspicious. Putting our faith in these digital, volatile assets to solve pervasive, deeply systemic issues is a recipe for disaster. It’s a wrongheaded approach fraught with far more pitfalls than promise. That’s like putting a band-aid on a gaping wound.

What if all the energy and hype around crypto were instead directed towards demanding real change? What if we channeled that wall-hitting ire into door-knocking? Ditch the Get-Rich-Quick. Demand Real Solutions.

The answer isn't hoping Bitcoin will magically solve Gen Z's problems. The answer is demanding economic justice. It’s making sure our leaders are working to build a transportation system that works for all of us—not just the rich, well-connected elites.

I get it, it’s not nearly as exciting as a Bitcoin boom. This might be less exciting than dramatically watching your crypto portfolio go to the moon in just three clicks. But it's real. It's sustainable. The time for action is now though. Because it’s the only way to build a world where young people like Maya have an honest-to-goodness fighting chance.

So, yes, Bitcoin might be hitting $100K+. But don't let that distract you from the crisis that's brewing beneath the surface. Please don’t allow the “crypto bros” to gaslight you into believing that this is the answer.

It is a symptom of a much deeper problem. To remedy this problem, we need to address the cause of cronyism—the increasing disparity between the haves and havenots. Pursuing transient online mirages is no way to build a sustainable future.

If you are going to dabble in crypto (and I urge you to be extremely cautious), treat it like what it is: a highly speculative investment. Murphy’s Law — invest only what you can afford to lose. Diversify your investments. Avoid having too much exposure to one extremely risky market.

Perhaps most importantly, do not let crypto deter you from the true battle royale. The battle to improve the future for a younger, fairer, more just, and more equitable Gen Z. That’s the kind of boom we should all be chasing.

But more importantly, don't let crypto distract you from the real fight. The fight for a fairer, more just, and more equitable future for Gen Z. That's the boom we should all be chasing.
